About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist in providing risk oversight and advice to the Line of Business on risk management issues
- Monitor and adhere to risk management policies, limits, standards, controls, metrics, and thresholds
- Assist with risk framework activities, including independent monitoring and testing of controls and risk management processes
- Recognize and address credit, market, operational, and compliance risks
- Perform Consumer post approval underwriting reviews for New Account Acquisition and Existing Account Credit
- Schedule monthly reviews, execute processes, and prepare reporting
- Create monthly reporting on Credit Risk themes and trends within frontline units and at enterprise level
- Present findings and reporting to various levels of management
- Maintain and schedule Credit Risk reviews across Consumer products
- Identify opportunities for automation, efficiency, and process innovation
- Assist in driving processes toward a more operationally efficient future state
- Establish and oversee risk management governance structure for the Line of Business
- Liaise with businesses to understand market trends and portfolio impacts
- Support management of risk requests, breach remediations, and effective challenges for frontline units
- Analyze Consumer Underwriting decisions to validate policy, standards, procedures, and sound decision-making adherence
- Develop and maintain relationships with frontline units, risk and control partners, and Executive management
- Report on adherence to policies, standards, and procedures
- Create detailed monthly reporting packages for the Consumer Post Approval Review team
- Include issue action-plan development and remediation in reporting packages
- Participate in PAR cross-training across other Consumer products
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of direct Consumer product underwriting experience (Consumer Real Estate or Consumer Vehicle Lending or Credit Card)
- Ability to interpret and demonstrate a deep understanding of the 5 categories of credit: character, capacity, capital, collateral, and conditions
- 2+ years of Quality Assurance or Business Control experience related to consumer products
- Proficient computer/software skills, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
- Ability to effectively communicate and present (written and oral) to a variety of audiences
- Solid understanding of Risk Management and the Credit industry
- Oversight/Governance experience, including Risk, Business Control, Compliance, or Testing background
- Issue identification, escalation, and reporting experience
- Degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Quantitative, Data Science, or Marketing and/or professional certifications
- Experience in the banking industry/financial services, preferably Credit Risk and/or key credit risk metrics
- Aspiration to learn data analysis, data manipulation, and data reporting skills (e.g., Tableau, SAS, SQL, etc.)
- Must be able to work 1st shift in the United States of America
- Must be able to work 40 hours per week
