Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and deliver complex software requirements to accomplish business goals
  • Ensure software meets functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements
  • Code solutions and perform unit testing
  • Ensure successful integration into the overall application/system through clear, robust, well-tested interfaces
  • Develop full-stack software for Bank of America’s Erica, Chat and Voice Technology team
  • Build next-generation AI and search platforms supporting banking assistants and search across multiple platforms
  • Perform client-side and server-side development
  • Write unit and integration tests
  • Perform hybrid engineering tasks within an agile team
  • Use architectural components across data, application, and business layers
  • Perform continuous integration and continuous delivery activities
  • Contribute to story refinement and requirements definition
  • Estimate work required to deliver stories and requirements
  • Contribute to integration, regression, and performance test suites
  • Analyze test reports, identify issues, and triage underlying causes
  • Perform spikes and proofs of concept to mitigate risk or implement new ideas
  • Participate in code reviews and solve complex technical problems

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of hands-on software development experience using Java/J2EE technologies
  • Good interpersonal communication skills for technical and business conversations
  • Good analytical skills to break down requirements and solve complex problems
  • Experience working on high-volume applications
  • Experience with server-side frameworks such as Spring MVC
  • Experience building RESTful web services
  • Experience with performance tuning and JVM internals
  • Experience with NoSQL databases such as Cassandra
  • Experience with distributed caching frameworks such as Hazelcast, Ignite, or Redis
  • Experience with modern JVM languages such as Groovy or Scala
  • Experience with open-source search engines such as Solr or Elasticsearch
  • Experience with NLP and machine learning
  • Prior open-source contributions
  • Proven task management and leadership skills
  • Experience working in agile teams
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field
