About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Serve as the interface between the central AI Application Modernization Factory and application teams
Embed temporarily with application teams to drive modernization of key applications
Lead design, development, and delivery of re-platforming and microservices adoption on AWS cloud-native architectures
Drive adoption of AI-assisted software development practices and manage related change
Identify technical and process bottlenecks and implement solutions
Contribute code, architectural scaffolding, CI/CD pipelines, Terraform IaC, and integration solutions
Relay team feedback and tool deficiencies to the central Principal Engineer and Architect
Ensure teams follow Twelve-Factor App principles, DevSecOps practices, and coding standards
Upskill team members and support lasting adoption of modern engineering practices

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of progressive experience in Software Engineering, focused on enterprise applications and application modernization
Strong hands-on full-stack experience across front-end, back-end, database, and infrastructure
Expert proficiency in one or more modern languages, such as Python, TypeScript, C#, or Java
Deep practical experience building and deploying scalable applications on AWS
Strong proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code, specifically Terraform
Proven ability to onboard rapidly, assess team dynamics and technical landscapes, influence technical direction without formal authority, and drive organizational/process change
Hands-on mastery of CI/CD pipelines, including GitHub Actions and GitLab CI
DevSecOps best practices experience
Understanding of microservices, serverless, event-driven architecture, and Domain-Driven Design
Exceptional communication, presentation, and listening skills
Prior consulting, Staff Engineer, or Forward Deployed experience is preferred
Experience training or mentoring software engineers is preferred
React, NextJS, or similar experience is preferred
Experience with Cursor or Claude Code is preferred
Docker/Kubernetes and AWS Lambda familiarity is preferred
