About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform pre-registration and registration
- Identify and verify payers and benefits eligibility and limitations
- Refer patients to financial counseling
- Collect patients’ financial responsibility at the point of service
- Ensure patient demographic and benefit information entered into computer systems is accurate
- Coordinate benefits and complete Medicare Secondary Payer requirements
- Determine medical necessity
- Issue and obtain signatures for Important Message from Medicare
- Comply with HIPAA and EMTALA requirements
- Perform additional duties within the scope of the role
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school graduate or equivalent required
- Associate’s degree in healthcare or business-related field preferred
- Bilingual capability (English/Spanish) desirable
- At least 2 years’ experience in a medical or hospital patient access or financial services environment preferred
- Training experience a plus
- Knowledge of government programs such as Medicare and Medicaid
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with relevant computer software
- Strong team leadership, organization, interpersonal, and customer relations skills
- Must be able to meet strict deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
- Must be able to complete multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Proficient computer skills
- Ability to understand complex multifactor situations and bring appropriate solutions
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
