About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, build, configure, test, implement, maintain, optimize, and support Epic Bridges interfaces and interoperability solutions
- Analyze business, clinical, operational, and technical requirements to develop integration solutions
- Configure interface transactions, message routing, communication protocols, and integration workflows
- Develop and maintain application documentation, technical specifications, interface inventories, and support documentation
- Design and support HL7, FHIR, API, X12, DICOM, and other healthcare interoperability solutions
- Develop and maintain interfaces between Epic and ancillary, clinical, financial, and third-party systems
- Coordinate data mapping, transformation, validation, and interface configuration
- Monitor interface queues, message processing, error logs, and system performance
- Troubleshoot interface failures, transaction errors, data inconsistencies, and integration issues; perform root cause analysis
- Develop and execute unit, system, interface, integrated, regression, and user acceptance testing plans
- Participate in Epic implementations, acquisitions, expansions, upgrades, optimization projects, go-live readiness, command center activities, stabilization, and post-implementation optimization
- Collaborate with application teams, operational leaders, technical teams, vendors, Epic, infrastructure teams, and application analysts
- Support interoperability strategies, data sharing, information exchange, data governance, integration architecture reviews, and long-term interoperability planning
- Monitor performance and operational metrics; recommend process improvements and system enhancements
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, information security requirements, healthcare regulations, privacy requirements, and organizational standards
- Maintain documentation, support audit readiness, and assist with other departmental duties
- May remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather or disasters
Requirements
What you’ll need- 3 years of healthcare information technology, application support, systems integration, interface development, or Epic-related experience, required
- 1 year of experience with systems analysis, interface troubleshooting, testing, and technical documentation, required
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, computer engineering, computer science, health informatics, health information management, information technology, information systems, or another related field, required; four years of directly related experience may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement
- Epic certification or ability to attain Epic certification(s) in assigned module(s) within a defined timeframe
- Successful completion of the required Sphinx Assessment
- Willingness and ability to work a minimum of 25% onsite
- Ability to work additional hours, including evenings and weekends, as project needs dictate
- Ability to participate in on-site go-live and support activities across multiple organizational locations
- Ability to travel occasionally, including outside the state
- Ability to travel between organizational facilities
- Preferred: 1 year supporting Epic implementations, upgrades, optimizations, or large-scale healthcare technology projects
- Preferred: 1 year with Cloverleaf, Mirth Connect, Rhapsody, or other interface engines
- Preferred: 1 year with SQL, data analysis, and database concepts
- Preferred: 1 year supporting clinical, revenue cycle, laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, or third-party system integrations
- Preferred: 1 year working within integrated healthcare delivery systems
