About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Maintain the BHSF Master Patient Index (MPI) and unique patient identifiers across acute care hospitals, outpatient services, ambulatory surgical centers, and Baptist Health medical groups
  • Identify and correct patient MPI discrepancies across clinical, financial, and administrative systems
  • Maintain medical record integrity to support patient safety and continuity of care
  • Consolidate clinical patient data for Health Information Exchange to improve quality, safety, and cost of patient care
  • Work as part of a team to meet individual and departmental goals

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School, Cert, GED, Trn, Exper.
  • Minimum of two years of acute care experience in medical record analysis
  • Minimum required experience: 3 years
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy
  • Knowledge of health information systems, database management, spreadsheet design, and computer technology
  • Ability to organize work priorities and attend to fine details with good decision-making skills in a high-volume, high-producing work setting
  • Excellent computer proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Typing speed of 25 wpm
  • Passing MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint testing
  • On-call coverage including nights and weekends for patient care support
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to work independently and complete assignments within given instructions, routines, and accepted practices
  • Associate degree in a related field preferred
  • RHIT and/or RHIA certification preferred
