About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Reconcile daily trading-desk profit and loss figures with valued positions in the trading book
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies so P&L reflects the true economic value of the trading portfolio
  • Support identification, assessment, mitigation, and reporting of trading risks
  • Maintain and analyze trading data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency
  • Provide trading-performance insights to traders and senior colleagues
  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports to authorities
  • Support external audits, address auditor queries, and ensure trading activities are reflected appropriately in financial statements
  • Communicate complex financial information to traders, risk professionals, senior colleagues, and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Front Office, Financial Control, Technical Accounting Group, PC Change Management, Technology, and infrastructure teams
  • Monitor trading activity for compliance with relevant policies
  • Provide management with technical and operational analysis of the business unit
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of books and records comprising P&L and Balance Sheet substantiation and reporting
  • Lead or supervise a team where applicable, allocating work, coordinating resources, and supporting professional development
  • Escalate policy or procedure breaches and embed risk-mitigation policies and procedures
  • Advise and influence decision-making within the area of expertise
  • Take ownership of risks and controls and deliver work in line with rules, regulations, and codes of conduct
  • Resolve problems through analysis of factual information and application of technical experience
  • Act as a contact point for stakeholders outside the immediate function and build external networks

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Requires in-depth technical knowledge and experience in the assigned area of expertise
  • Thorough understanding of underlying principles and concepts within the area of expertise
  • Experience with MS Office toolkit
  • Qualified accountant
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to interact with regional, UK, and US teams as part of a global team
  • Strong control awareness, including identifying and escalating potential control breakdowns
  • Ability to streamline processes effectively and efficiently
  • Articleship or industrial trainee experience in mid- to large-sized firms valued
  • Audit exposure in large financial institutions or banks preferred
  • Knowledge of risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, digital and technology, and job-specific technical skills
