About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, develop, and implement solutions to complex business problems
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand needs and requirements
- Design and develop evolvable solutions aligned with modern software engineering practices and automated delivery tooling
- Identify and implement appropriate technologies and platforms
- Apply workload placement strategies and leverage cloud capabilities including elasticity, serverless, and containerisation
- Produce secure, resilient designs incorporating defence in depth and reduction of blast radius
- Balance risks and controls to deliver agreed business and technology value
- Adopt standardised solutions and contribute to their evolution where appropriate
- Support operational teams with fault finding and performance issues
- Assess solution design impacts on risk, capacity, and cost, including project change and ongoing run costs
- Develop architecture inputs and design artefacts for architecture, privacy, security, and records management governance
- Provide architectural coverage for Cards and Payments projects, including Resilience and Insider Threat
- Own assigned projects and work with Business Analysts to produce solution designs
- Advise stakeholders and senior management on functional and cross-functional impact and alignment
- Manage and mitigate risks and strengthen controls
- Create solutions through complex analysis, research, and evaluation of alternatives
- Build and maintain stakeholder relationships and partnerships
- Guide technical direction, collaborate on multi-year assignments, and coach less experienced specialists where applicable
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience with infrastructure and integration across cloud and on-premise environments at enterprise scale
- Experience with associated security best practice
- Experience in one or more of: Physical Security, Threat Intelligence, Insider Threat, Cyber Forensics, Resilience
- Strong technical leadership and communication skills
- Stakeholder management at CxO level
- Background in Software Engineering and/or Data Architecture (highly valued)
- Experience in Financial Services or a similarly regulated environment (highly valued)
- Appetite for learning new technologies, including AI, Agile and Automation
- Ability to work with roadmaps and promote/champion architecture strategy
- Knowledge of risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, digital and technology, and job-specific technical skills
