About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Integrate animation layers, visual effects, lighting passes, and background elements into cohesive images.
  • Balance color, light, and depth to ensure visual consistency across shots and sequences.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues such as edge inconsistencies, motion blur, and artifact cleanup.
  • Collaborate with the lighting, effects, and rendering departments to resolve shot-specific challenges.
  • Use compositing software to add depth, atmosphere, lens flares, color grading, and motion blur.
  • Apply creative adjustments to achieve the director’s vision.
  • Collaborate with the Compositing Supervisor and other team members on artistic direction and technical standards.
  • Provide feedback to upstream departments to improve workflow efficiency.
  • Organize and manage compositing assets, naming conventions, and archiving.
  • Maintain file organization and version control.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of experience as a Compositing Artist in the animation industry, ideally on fully animated or hybrid feature films.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard 3D software, such as Maya and Houdini.
  • Proficiency with Katana, including working with templates within a production pipeline.
  • Strong understanding of color theory, composition, and cinematography principles.
  • Strong knowledge of shading languages, such as RenderMan and Arnold.
  • Familiarity with compositing software, such as Nuke.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Passion for storytelling and a strong artistic sensibility.
  • Ability to guide and support junior compositing artists and other team members, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
