About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Work across the stack to build performant APIs, services, and front-end experiences using Python and React/TypeScript
Build and integrate Bark’s marketing technology stack by connecting third-party platforms and internal services
Partner with Marketing to identify automation opportunities
Design and ship AI-powered internal tools that reduce manual work and accelerate campaigns
Measure tool impact through adoption, efficiency gains, reduced manual effort, and business value
Implement responsible AI practices, including cost tracking, secret and PII hygiene, and human review of AI-generated customer output
Collaborate with product managers, designers, and Marketing to move ideas from prototype to production
Propose and implement improvements to the codebase and architecture
Mentor and support engineers and promote best practices
Evaluate emerging AI tools and frameworks, recommend solutions, and drive adoption through documentation, reusable patterns, and enablement
Improve internal and stakeholder ways of working

Requirements

What you’ll need

Must be based in Spain
4+ years of experience working with Python in a production environment
4+ years of recent experience working with React
Ideally a 50/50 front-end and back-end split; open to a 30/70 split either way
Experience building scalable, high-performing web applications
Production MySQL experience and strong SQL skills
Familiarity with NoSQL datastores
Experience building, maintaining, testing, and documenting APIs for internal and external developers
Strong organisational skills
Ability to achieve goals in a highly innovative and fast-paced environment
Great communication skills
Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code and Cursor
Genuine interest in marketing and automation problems and aptitude to learn the domain quickly
Desired: experience building or integrating MarTech stacks, including CRM, CDP, email/marketing automation, analytics, or ad platforms
Desired: experience building AI-powered tooling in production using LLM APIs, agents, or workflow automation
Desired: familiarity with AWS, SQS or RabbitMQ, SNS or Kafka
Desired: experience with Elasticsearch, DynamoDB, or similar data stores
Desired: experience with cloud monitoring systems such as Datadog
