About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute civil and geotechnical projects
  • Prepare proposals and cost estimates
  • Ensure project milestones are met and provide updates to project managers and clients
  • Lead and deliver projects through planning, coordination, client engagement, and multidisciplinary team management
  • Perform civil and geotechnical engineering analysis and design from concept through design
  • Prepare and review calculations, reports, construction plans, and specifications
  • Conduct site visits, inspections, and construction oversight
  • Meet face-to-face with clients
  • Provide training and mentorship to team members
  • Support characterization, design, operation, and closure of mine tailings and coal ash storage facilities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in geotechnical engineering, geological engineering, or civil engineering with a geotechnical emphasis
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain one within one year
  • 7+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong civil and geotechnical design and project management experience preferred
  • Willingness and ability to travel periodically
  • Civil and geotechnical software program experience preferred, including Geostudio, Rocscience, FLAC, gINT or BoreDM, and AutoCAD
  • Current, valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Ability to work in rough terrain, around moving machinery, and in industrial facility conditions, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to lift or move field testing equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future
