About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead Barr’s growth in the Salt Lake City market
- Build and maintain lasting client relationships
- Develop new work and grow Salt Lake City water resources and contaminated sites work in Utah
- Lead business development activities in Salt Lake City and surrounding areas
- Conduct marketing and brand building, secure projects, serve clients, and collaborate across Barr to build multidisciplinary project teams
- Provide senior technical, project, and client leadership for diverse projects
- Grow Barr’s local and statewide presence through business development, client relationship development, brand building, industry engagement, strategic partnerships, and coordination of local market initiatives
- Develop and implement regional growth strategies
- Manage and strengthen client relationships and connect clients with Barr staff
- Support project positioning, proposal development, brand positioning, communications strategy, and teaming partner development
- Support recruitment planning and industry engagement
- Represent Barr through client engagement, conferences, professional organizations, thought leadership, and reputation-building activities
- Identify priority markets, service opportunities, strategic partnerships, and future staffing needs across Utah and the region
- Partner with senior Salt Lake City staff to align market-development activities with office needs
- Support staff integration, networking, office culture, and development of future client and project leaders
- Provide input on team composition, strategic hires, technical capabilities, and business development needs
- Apply multidisciplinary water resources and contaminated sites expertise
- Assist with project planning, collaboration, coordination, and delegation
- Help ensure project and task managers are successful with clients
- Provide regular updates on client feedback and ongoing client service improvements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in water resources engineering, civil/environmental engineering, geology, or other relevant disciplines
- 20+ years of consulting experience with an emphasis on water resources
- Experience with proposal development, client management, and business development
- Experience leading multidisciplinary design teams across regions and offices
- Experience launching or significantly expanding a local market, regional practice, or new office presence
- Professional licensure such as PE, PG, or another relevant license
- Current, valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future
- Ability to work in an office environment and perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodation
- Master’s degree or PhD in water resources engineering, civil/environmental engineering, geology, or other relevant disciplines (helpful, not required)
- Experience serving as a visible industry leader through presentations, industry engagement, committee participation, professional organization leadership, or client advisory roles (helpful, not required)
