About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, implement, and sustain EIM application workflow databases
  • Ensure database performance, reporting capability, availability, and security
  • Provide database administration, SQL programming, database structure and schema design, table configuration, problem solving, and database communications
  • Perform routine and preventive database maintenance during planned downtime
  • Conduct performance tuning, index rebuilds, and data and log cleanup
  • Lead large data migrations and ETL efforts, including HAIMS, DMACS Archive, and STR records migrations
  • Consolidate structured and unstructured data and metadata into shared SQL Server and Content Server instances
  • Maintain metadata values according to MHS data standards and map legacy values to new values
  • Sustain and update reporting databases and tools, including BOXi and OpenText Web Reports
  • Support timely and accurate canned and ad hoc reporting
  • Apply database IAVA patches and STIGs
  • Support backup, failover, and continuity of operations testing
  • Maintain data dictionaries and data models for each release
  • Support the DHA CBIS Program Management Office and modernization of the DHA EIM platform hosted in AWS GovCloud

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Science, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of database administration and database architecture experience with SQL Server; twelve (12) years without a BS degree
  • Experience performing large data migrations and extract, transform, and load (ETL)
  • Experience implementing database schemas within SQL Server
  • Strong SQL programming and performance tuning skills
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a favorably adjudicated background investigation for an ADP/IT-I or ADP/IT-II position designation (Tier 5 or Tier 3)
  • Must obtain a DoD Common Access Card (CAC)
  • Must complete DoD/DHA-required HIPAA and Privacy Act training
  • Must sign a DHA Non-Disclosure Agreement before starting work
  • Ability to reach the Government site in Falls Church, VA within two hours
  • Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods while working at a computer
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including computers and telephones
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, video conference, and email
  • Ability to occasionally move about the office and lift up to 20 pounds
  • Ability to work the assigned schedule with regular and reliable attendance
  • Ability to travel up to 10% as required
  • No security clearance required; position requires Public Trust suitability
