About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Ensure the stability, security, and performance of the company’s corporate and production networks
- Monitor LAN and WLAN infrastructure using ManageEngine OpManager and SolarWinds
- Analyze performance trends and identify anomalies
- Initiate preventive and corrective measures to ensure high network availability in production environments
- Plan, configure, and operate Cisco-based network components
- Support Cisco Catalyst switches, industrial Ethernet switches, wireless controllers, and access points
- Operate, support, and maintain IT and OT network infrastructures
- Deploy and manage MST, HSRP, and multicast
- Ensure stable and fail-safe network connectivity for PROFINET, Modbus/TCP, and EtherNet/IP
- Support network rollouts, modernization initiatives, and infrastructure projects
- Contribute to network designs, segmentation measures, and security initiatives
- Support hardware deployments and technical implementations
- Analyze and resolve complex network incidents as part of 3rd-level support
- Collaborate with IT, OT, and production teams
- Deliver sustainable troubleshooting and optimization to minimize downtime
Requirements
What you’ll need- Several years of hands-on experience—approximately 5 to 10 years—in IT/OT network administration
- Strong understanding of enterprise networks and their operation
- Extensive experience as a Cisco LAN network specialist
- Excellent knowledge of troubleshooting and resolving issues in complex network environments
- Practical experience with enterprise campus networks
- Proficiency with SolarWinds and ManageEngine OpManager
- Proven experience operating, maintaining, and further developing Cisco LAN infrastructures in IT and OT environments
- Experience in industrial network environments
- Knowledge of PROFINET, Modbus/TCP, and EtherNet/IP
- Understanding of network segmentation and secure communication between IT and OT networks
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity for IT/OT environments
- Experience with network segmentation, firewall technologies, and secure access concepts
- Knowledge of Cisco ISE, Fortinet, or Palo Alto
- Familiarity with NIST and ISO/IEC 27001
- Experience with Microsoft Azure or AWS
- Knowledge of hybrid infrastructure architectures and cloud migrations
- Experience with cloud networking
- Strong communication skills and a service-oriented approach
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Independent, structured, and solution-oriented working style
- High level of initiative and confidence working in complex, cross-functional environments
- Willingness to travel occasionally
- Very good written and spoken German and English
- Cisco certifications such as CCNA or CCNP are desirable but not required
