About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct on-site observation of work, repairs, and testing
  • Observe, measure, and document construction activities
  • Complete Daily Reports and job meeting minutes
  • Update as-built drawings as needed
  • Investigate customer concerns
  • Maintain contract document files
  • Assist with engineering-related data collection, inspections, assessments, analysis, and review activities
  • Coordinate construction activities with contractors and the construction management team
  • Consult with Project Engineers, resident project representatives, and contractor superintendents regarding work progress and construction problems
  • Review equipment utilization data and time/cost estimates
  • Recommend alterations to development and design to improve project quality
  • Monitor progress schedules and approved shop drawings
  • Resolve construction conflicts and prepare cost-effective solutions
  • Protect the owner against defects and deficiencies in the work
  • Maintain records of time, equipment, and material needs for potential change orders
  • Review and request adjustments to compensation and contract time
  • Coordinate monthly development of contractor Monthly Pay Applications based on agreed bid quantities
  • Communicate with residents, businesses, and public agency representatives
  • Address resident concerns
  • Perform other duties as needed or assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years’ experience in construction management and/or public works management
  • Experience in construction of municipal utility infrastructure projects, including water mains, sanitary sewer and forcemains, water and wastewater plants, stormwater systems, and roadways
  • Ability to travel throughout the greater Houston area and contiguous counties
  • Own transportation
  • Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills
  • May require weekend and holiday work
  • Ability to work under exposure to inclement weather conditions
  • Must wear employer-provided personal protective equipment and comply with all safety requirements
