About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee the work of employees within the Water/Wastewater Department
- Manage small and large complex projects involving special skills and multidisciplinary teams
- Develop client relationships and serve as client manager
- Prepare and monitor project scopes, budgets, and schedules
- Manage development of plans, specifications, and technical reports for water, wastewater, and municipal projects
- Manage feasibility studies, preliminary engineering reports, and evaluation reports
- Represent the company in client and agency meetings
- Make independent project management and project engineering decisions
- Ensure designs, specifications, and reports meet quality objectives and agency criteria
- Prepare engineering project proposals and statements of qualifications
- Plan department workload and budget
- Direct staff efforts and development; build project teams and assign staff
- Monitor engineer performance and evaluate staff
- Support performance evaluations, knowledge transfer, and staff coaching
Requirements
What you’ll need- ABET accredited B.S. degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or applicable alternate engineering degree
- Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas or able to acquire registration through reciprocity
- 5 or more years of related experience in project management and design
- 10 or more years of progressive experience in consultant civil engineering
- Broad knowledge of engineering principles and advanced engineering expertise
- Experience designing water and wastewater projects, including water plants and wastewater treatment plants
- Experience with municipal utility districts and/or local municipalities
- Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and the general public
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to travel throughout assigned office service areas with own transportation
- Excellent technical writing skills
- Strong verbal, computer, and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
