About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop hydrologic and hydraulic models of municipal storm sewer and sanitary collection systems
  • Assist with drainage studies and stormwater master plans
  • Analyze and design municipal stormwater facilities, including open channels, culverts, storm sewers, detention basins, and green infrastructure
  • Perform drainage design for transportation, hydraulic structures, and site design
  • Prepare plans and specifications for construction
  • Conduct field work associated with flood inspection and/or construction observation
  • Handle permitting with local, state, and federal permitting agencies
  • Assist with municipal permit review
  • Work with municipal clients on water resources projects
  • Collaborate with team members across a variety of projects

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 4-year B.S. degree in Civil Engineering, with emphasis in Water Resources engineering preferred
  • Knowledge of basic principles of infrastructure design and plan preparation
  • Knowledge of basic principles of hydrology and hydraulics
  • Ability to travel throughout the Chicago area with own transportation
  • Strong verbal, computer, organizational, and writing skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment on a variety of projects
  • E.I.T. (Engineer in Training) License preferred
  • Knowledge of H&H modeling (SWMM) preferred
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD (Civil 3D) and ArcGIS preferred
  • Knowledge of MicroStation (Bentley) preferred
  • Experience in Consulting Engineering, Public Works, or Construction preferred
