About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and maintain applications by designing, building, testing, and supporting software aligned with business requirements and enterprise architecture standards
  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code and participate in peer code reviews
  • Implement and maintain secure, reliable integrations between internal systems and platforms
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software defects, performance issues, and user-reported problems
  • Collaborate with business analysts, QA staff, Information Systems technicians, and other developers
  • Participate in project planning, sprint planning, team check-ins, reviews, and other Agile activities
  • Create and update technical documentation covering architecture, design decisions, data fixes, and operational procedures
  • Develop applications with emphasis on security, privacy, and regulatory compliance
  • Define test cases, conduct unit testing, and support user acceptance testing with QA analysts
  • Mentor junior developers, provide technical guidance to leadership, and represent BCER on project teams as a technical expert
  • Monitor emerging technologies and recommend improvements to tools, frameworks, processes, and strategic planning
  • Identify opportunities to improve system performance, user experience, development workflows, and BCER technology platforms
  • Champion BCER’s mission, vision, strategic goals, and values within the department

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A diploma or degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in software development, including full-stack development and system integration
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Experience designing, developing, and maintaining web-based and/or enterprise applications
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment and contributing to cross-functional project teams
  • Proficiency in modern programming languages, frameworks, and development tools relevant to the organization’s technology stack
  • Experience with C#, .NET, Typescript, Angular, Flyway, Python, CI/CD (Azure DevOps), or similar
  • Experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs and integrating with third-party systems
  • Experience with Agile, iterative, and incremental software development, including sprint and release planning, code reviews, and CI/CD pipeline implementation aligned with DevOps practices
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues in production and development environments
  • Experience collaborating with business analysts, QA, and infrastructure teams
  • Experience writing and maintaining technical documentation
