About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Execute enterprise-level client engagements through various industry specializations
Engage directly with clients and drive implementation and successful end-user experiences of analytics solutions
Execute engagements and collaborate with clients and delivery teams to meet milestones and deliverables on time and on budget
Design and develop industry-specific data models for Natural Resources, Finance, Manufacturing and Distribution, and Retail projects
Enhance data models and improve data query efficiency with other engineers
Create complex data queries for ad hoc and exploratory analytics
Build real-time data capture and transformation functionality across products
Build out the technology stack for Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse
Review data for inconsistencies and identify opportunities to improve data collection processes
Transform or map raw data into more appropriate and valuable formats for analytics
Develop, construct, test and maintain databases and large-scale data processing systems
Design, construct, install, test and maintain highly scalable data management systems
Use languages and tools, including scripting languages, to integrate systems
Build or recommend data visualization and business intelligence tools, including interactive dashboards and automated reports
Stay current with development technologies to deliver state-of-the-art analytics solutions
Demonstrate BDO’s core values through all aspects of the work
Participate in adoption of digital tools and strategies to drive an innovative workplace

Requirements

What you’ll need

Post-secondary education in engineering or computer science or equivalent work experience
Good experience working with Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory and Azure Data Lake
Programming experience in Python
Strong attention to the quality of work delivered and attention to detail
Ability to adapt quickly to changing client requirements
Experience using the Apache Hadoop ecosystem, including Spark, Data Lake, Hive, HDFS and Impala (asset)
Knowledge of ETL, ELT, Lambda and Kappa data architectures (asset)
Experience with the Microsoft SQL Server Analytics stack, including Core SQL, SSIS, SSRS and SSAS (asset)
Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases (asset)
Knowledge of Continuous Integration and Source Control systems, such as Gradle, Maven, Bamboo, TeamCity and Git (asset)
Data Visualization experience in Power BI, Tableau or similar (asset)
Exposure to data science, machine learning or statistics (asset)
Some experience using Docker (asset)
