About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Keep current on Canadian income tax developments primarily affecting domestic tax clients
- Communicate tax developments to Tax Service Line and Tax Compliance Professionals, and externally
- Ensure tax-centred, client-focused articles are published on bdo.ca
- Communicate regularly with clients and potential clients about income tax developments
- Provide weekly internal communications to Tax Professionals and Tax Compliance Professionals
- Organize and facilitate monthly webinars for the Tax Service Line
- Develop content for and present to Tax Compliance Professionals
- Maintain the internal database of technical matters
- Manage professional and administrative support staff
- Review Tax Compliance tools for technical accuracy and relevant content
- Serve as a firm reference for new tax developments
- Review presentation materials for external presentations or conferences
- Assist with developing tax compliance tools
Requirements
What you’ll need- 10 years of experience working in Canadian Income Tax in public practice as a CPA or as a barrister or solicitor
- Completion of the In-Depth Tax Course, a Masters of Tax or an LLB
- Proven excellence in written communication of technical subject matter
- Ability to read and interpret income tax legislation
- Ability to prepare summaries of relevant income tax developments for tax professionals, tax compliance professionals, and clients
- Excellent oral communication skills
- Attention to detail to ensure legislation meaning is properly reflected in communications
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to be flexible to meet the demands of the role
