About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO in operationalizing BEAM Circular’s mission, vision, and strategic priorities
  • Exercise delegated authority for internal operating decisions and resolve issues at the COO level
  • Translate strategy into annual and quarterly work plans with measurable goals and timelines
  • Align programs, operations, and finance with external initiatives, funding requirements, and organizational strategy
  • Supervise, coach, and support senior internal leaders
  • Oversee finance, human resources, legal compliance, internal policies, grants management, reporting, and contract administration
  • Own the annual budget and multi-year financial model; monitor cash position and runway
  • Advise the CEO and Board on resources and financial constraints
  • Ensure financial management, internal controls, and compliance with nonprofit, federal, and grant requirements
  • Oversee legal, risk, insurance, entity-governance, real estate, facilities, and capital-project matters
  • Establish performance tracking, impact measurement, organizational learning, planning, and accountability systems
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing culture
  • Directly manage, coach, and develop directors and team leads
  • Strengthen internal communication, role clarity, decision-making, and workflows
  • Act as the CEO’s primary internal proxy for day-to-day organizational leadership
  • Prepare Board and committee materials and support Board governance
  • Represent BEAM Circular in select external meetings
  • Comply with workplace safety and organizational policies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred, or equivalent professional experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible leadership experience
  • Senior-level management of complex organizations, initiatives, or portfolios
  • Experience as a senior deputy to a founder, CEO, or executive director with delegated authority over day-to-day operations and direct management of senior staff
  • Experience supporting organizational growth, systems-building, and scaling initiatives, including building or maturing underdeveloped functions
  • Direct responsibility for organizational budgets, financial planning and forecasting, and financial reporting to a board or funders
  • Deep expertise in nonprofit and mission-driven operations, including governance, financial management, compliance, and regulatory oversight
  • Experience overseeing operations, finance, and cross-functional teams
  • Ability to build and interrogate budgets, forecasts, and financial models
  • Experience navigating public-sector and multi-sector environments, including public-private partnerships and collaborative governance structures
  • Strong understanding of early-stage and growth-oriented organizational dynamics
  • Strategic and operational leadership capability
  • Advanced prioritization, execution, and decision-making skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas in English so others will understand
  • Regular and consistent attendance
