About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design and build enterprise-grade Azure-focused cloud solutions that are highly available, secure, cost-efficient and compliant
Own network design, security, identity and access management, including RBAC, MFA and least privilege
Establish networking, security and identity best practices for the team
Evolve CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code and cloud-resource automation
Containerise applications and evolve architectures from monoliths toward services
Select appropriate compute models, including App Services, serverless, VMs and Kubernetes
Run AI services such as Azure OpenAI / AI Foundry and AI Search
Expose, secure and govern APIs through API Management and as MCP servers
Build robust backend APIs and contribute to frontend engineering where platform knowledge is critical
Set up monitoring, logging and alerting
Drive performance and cost optimisation
Mentor colleagues and set architecture standards
Explain complex technical topics clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Serve as a hands-on technical lead for secure, scalable and resilient Generative AI solutions, including BearingPoint's BeMind enterprise AI platform

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
Around 8+ years of professional IT experience
Several years building and running production cloud infrastructure
Several years of backend / full-stack development
Deep hands-on experience with at least one major cloud
Azure ideal; strong AWS or GCP experience accepted if willing to become proficient in Azure quickly
Cloud networking and security fundamentals: virtual networks, firewalls / NSGs, load balancing, DNS, TLS, identity and access management
Production infrastructure as code experience with Terraform, Bicep / ARM, Pulumi, CloudFormation or similar
CI/CD pipeline design using mainstream tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI or Jenkins
Container-based deployments with Docker
Strong backend skills in at least one language: TypeScript / Node.js, Python, C# / .NET, Java or Go
Ability to work on the frontend
Strong relational database skills, including design and performance tuning
Proven experience troubleshooting complex systems and improving production reliability
Track record delivering enterprise projects from concept to production
Track record leading teams technically
Master's degree or further cloud training is a plus
Nice-to-have experience with Azure AI Foundry / Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Search or other LLM services in production
Nice-to-have experience with Azure API Management and exposing APIs as MCP servers
Nice-to-have Kubernetes and container orchestration experience
Nice-to-have serverless architecture experience
Nice-to-have monolith-to-microservices migrations or cloud transformations
Nice-to-have Azure Monitor / Log Analytics or comparable observability tooling
Nice-to-have consulting or client-facing project experience
Certifications such as AZ-305, AZ-104, AZ-204, AZ-400, AZ-500 or AWS / GCP equivalents are a plus, not a requirement
