About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Provide day-to-day direction to assigned custodial staff performing routine housekeeping and custodial duties throughout campus buildings
Coordinate work assignments and schedules to support campus needs
Help ensure assigned work is completed safely, efficiently, and to established standards
Assist with ordering, stocking, and maintaining custodial supplies and equipment
Ensure special projects are completed as directed by the Facilities Manager, including carpet cleaning, window washing, school vehicle washing, and power washing
Review and approve assigned custodial staff work schedules, PTO requests, and timecards in ADP time and attendance, as authorized
Perform custodial duties and hands-on work, including event setup and breakdown
Provide assistance in other Facilities areas as needed
Report to the Facilities Manager
Supervise approximately 14 direct reports

Requirements

What you’ll need

High school diploma or GED certificate and at least five years of janitorial/custodial experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus
Demonstrated ability to provide work direction, coordinate assignments, and motivate staff effectively
Knowledge of custodial best practices and the safe and efficient use of cleaning products, equipment, hand tools, and powered equipment
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and use a computer for email, timekeeping, and other basic work-related applications
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with employees, students, vendors, and other members of the school community
Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
Ability to work evenings, overtime and/or weekends as requested
Ability to lift and carry 10–25 pounds using proper lifting techniques
Ability to regularly, safely, and comfortably travel throughout Bellarmine's 27-acre campus
Ability to kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, walk, twist, reach, push, pull, and balance as needed
Ability to safely operate powered custodial equipment, including floor sweepers/buffers and vacuum equipment
