About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Build, enable, and scale enterprise data governance and stewardship capabilities
Operationalize data stewardship within a federated governance model
Translate governance strategy, policy, and regulatory requirements into practical, scalable business processes
Lead business and data domain onboarding, stewardship adoption, and governance process implementation
Enable enterprise data discovery, transparency, and reuse through metadata management, data catalogs, and data marketplaces
Implement metadata management, business glossary curation, and stewardship workflows
Integrate governance processes across enterprise platforms and business workflows
Build trusted relationships and align stakeholders around shared governance objectives
Leverage automation and AI-enabled capabilities to improve stewardship efficiency and governance effectiveness
Establish, monitor, and report governance KPIs, initiative progress, stewardship outcomes, risks, and improvement opportunities
Partner with platform owners, architects, and data teams on governance technologies, stewardship, metadata management, data quality, and compliance
Author governance policies, standards, procedures, and operating models
Lead stakeholder engagement sessions, governance working groups, and training programs
Lead and provide direction for managed service providers on projects
Provide strategic oversight and direction to junior data governance resources

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of experience in data governance, data stewardship, enterprise data management, or related disciplines
Experience serving as a data governance SME within a federated, matrixed, or enterprise-scale operating model
Ability to influence outcomes and drive adoption without formal authority
Experience leading cross-functional governance initiatives involving business, technology, and compliance stakeholders
Hands-on experience with enterprise data governance platforms such as Informatica, Atlan, Alation, or similar solutions
Experience enabling and training data stewards, data owners, and business stakeholders
Experience with data classification, metadata management, data quality, and regulatory-aligned governance practices
Strong stakeholder management skills across business and technology organizations
Experience leading, mentoring, or coordinating team members, managed service providers, or governance resources
Ability to translate governance strategy, policy, and regulatory requirements into practical, scalable operating processes
Preferred: Experience with governance platform implementations and stewardship adoption initiatives
Preferred: Strong facilitation skills for governance workshops, onboarding sessions, and working groups
Preferred: Experience supporting Data-as-a-Product operating models on Databricks and Snowflake
Preferred: Experience governing data in regulated environments, including GxP, clinical, R&D, or pharmaceutical domains
Preferred: Experience defining and reporting governance and stewardship KPIs to senior leadership
Preferred: Understanding of metadata, stewardship, and data quality capabilities for analytics, AI, and business outcomes
Preferred: Relevant certifications such as CDMP, DGSP, DCAM, DAMA, or equivalent credentials
