About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist Project Managers in managing electrical construction projects from start-up through closeout
  • Support planning, directing, and coordinating construction operations, purchases, financial reporting, and project controls for concurrent projects
  • Participate in proposals, procurement, contract negotiations, and project operations and financial performance management
  • Coordinate engineering studies, change orders, estimating, and technical issues with engineers
  • Prepare submittals and requests for information
  • Work with owners, clients, engineers, regional managers, vendors, architectural and engineering firms, and trade partners
  • Create subcontracts and purchase orders
  • Track job costs and predict monthly revenue streams
  • Manage QA/QC and quality control programs
  • Identify, research, and resolve contract disputes
  • Maintain prime contracts and establish monthly billing procedures
  • Establish and maintain job cost controls and review general conditions costs
  • Review and approve or adjust subcontractor payment applications and approve material and subcontract invoices
  • Issue change orders to subcontractors
  • Assist with bid turnover, project startup, blueprint and specification review, proposal review, and materials procurement
  • Provide project status updates and maintain documentation records
  • Assist with submittals, purchase orders, jobsite walkthroughs, change order requests, RFIs, pay applications, and closeout documents
  • Manage project document postings using Bluebeam Studio and Microsoft SharePoint
  • Prepare project controls, budget setup, schedules of values, and billing mechanisms
  • Procure product data submittals and shop drawings and manage material releases and supply-chain issues
  • Manage RFI submission, tracking, response evaluation, and implementation
  • Manage project document control and distribution
  • Support monthly billing through jobsite walks, status evaluation, client coordination, and monitoring billing and cost data
  • Evaluate construction methods and cost-effectiveness and address delays, bad weather, and emergencies
  • Visit projects to assess performance, progress, quality, field connectivity, and client relationships
  • Ensure safety and environmental policies are followed
  • Manage closeout and commissioning process tracking and subcontractor/vendor closeout documentation

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 2+ years of electrical experience/knowledge of construction, design, and cost management as an Assistant Project Manager or Project Engineer with Commercial, Institutional projects
  • BS in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • Experience preparing take-offs and estimates for change orders
  • Advanced abilities in reading and interpreting plans and specifications
  • Knowledge of NECA codes and TIA standards
  • In-depth knowledge of NEC and NFPA codes
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Thorough knowledge of construction technology, equipment, materials, means and methods
  • Understanding of company and industry practices, processes, and standards
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio and PowerPoint, Bluebeam, ChangeOrder, Accubid or other estimation software, and BOS (Berg Operating System)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to present self professionally and represent the company image
  • Demonstrated track record of leadership and project success
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced setting
  • Ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand for administrative functions
  • Ability to work in varying jobsite weather conditions and high noise levels
