About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist with management of projects from start-up to closeout under the direction of a Project Manager
  • Assist with bid turnover and project startup processes
  • Review blueprints, specifications, proposals, and project requirements
  • Coordinate materials procurement
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and federal/state laws
  • Provide status updates and maintain documentation records
  • Prepare material requisitions, submittals, purchase orders, on-site job walk-throughs, change order requests, RFIs, and close-out documents
  • Assist in writing quotations and project proposals
  • Estimate projects and material takeoffs when necessary
  • Review contracts and set up projects in relevant software applications
  • Work with project managers, on-site foremen, general contractors, production teams, field teams, site superintendents, and field staff
  • Maintain online project document postings using Bluebeam Studio and Microsoft SharePoint
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with vendors and clients
  • Coordinate project teams as directed by the Senior Project Manager
  • Monitor project planning, execution, closure, quality control, and project management functions
  • Establish and maintain project management files and drawing sets
  • Develop and track Requests for Information (RFIs)
  • Research, acquire, and collate submittals and Operations & Maintenance manual materials
  • Use project management software and company networks to document, measure, track, and resolve project issues
  • Assist with job billing preparation and substantiation
  • Track correspondence
  • Assist Project Managers with additional tasks as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 2+ years of electrical experience/knowledge of construction, design, and cost management as a Project Engineer with Commercial, Institutional and/or Industrial projects
  • Experience preparing take-offs and estimates for change orders
  • Advanced abilities in reading and interpreting plans and specifications
  • Knowledge of NEC and NECA codes and TIA standards
  • In-depth knowledge of NFPA codes
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction, including technology, equipment, and methods
  • Understanding of company and industry practices, processes, standards, and their impact on project activities
  • Knowledge of basic principles of scheduling and project management for construction and electrical materials is a plus
  • Proficient in MS Office, Bluebeam, Accubid, or other estimation software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Capable of working independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to present self professionally and represent the company image
  • Demonstrated track record of leadership and project success
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced setting
