About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist in managing projects from start-up to closeout under the direction of a Project Manager
- Assist with bid turnover and project startup, blueprint/specification review, proposal and project requirement review, and materials procurement coordination
- Ensure compliance with corporate policies and federal/state laws
- Provide status updates and maintain documentation records
- Prepare material requisitions, submittals, purchase orders, job walk-throughs, change order requests, RFIs, and close-out documents
- Assist with quotations, project proposals, project estimating, and contract review
- Set up projects in relevant software applications
- Work with project managers, on-site foremen, general contractors, production teams, field teams, site superintendents, and field staff
- Maintain project document postings using Bluebeam Studio and Microsoft SharePoint
- Develop and maintain positive vendor and client relationships
- Coordinate project teams and support department staff as directed by the Senior Project Manager
- Monitor project planning, execution, closure, quality control, and project management functions
- Establish and maintain project management files and drawing sets
- Estimate material takeoffs and develop change requests
- Research, acquire, and collate submittals and Operations & Maintenance manual materials
- Use project management software and company networks to document, measure, track, and resolve project issues
- Assist with job billing preparation and substantiation
- Track correspondence
- Assist Project Managers with additional tasks as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- 2+ years of electrical experience/knowledge of construction, design, and cost management as a Project Engineer with Commercial, Institutional and/or Industrial projects
- Experience preparing take-offs and estimates for change orders
- Advanced abilities in reading and interpreting plans and specifications
- Knowledge of NEC and NECA codes and TIA standards
- In-depth knowledge of NFPA codes
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction, including technology, equipment, and methods
- Understanding of Company and industry practices, processes, and standards and their impact on project activities
- Knowledge of base principles of scheduling, construction project management, and electrical materials is a plus
- Proficient in MS Office, Bluebeam, Accubid, or other estimation software
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Capable of working independently and in a team environment
- Ability to present self professionally and represent the company image
- Demonstrated track record of leadership and project success
- Ability to work in a fast-paced setting
