About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design high-visibility campaigns for Middle Grade, Picture, and Board books
- Create printed and digital marketing materials for web, social, email, advertising, and marketing campaigns
- Produce printed promotional collateral, point-of-purchase displays, and signage
- Develop fresh concepts with campaign teams while maintaining visual consistency across campaign touchpoints
- Assist with managing and delegating campaign design work to out-of-house freelance talent
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, artists, and agents
- Prepare files for final printed or digital release
- Manage project tracking and file archiving daily
- Work with Book Design staff to obtain current assets
- Work with Production staff to ensure projects meet specifications
- Stay current on illustration, design, technology, and publishing trends
- Collaborate with marketing, publicity, cover art, and editorial departments on campaigns for books, series, and brands
- Report to the Art Director
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of 1–3 years of design experience
- Keen interest in design for highly illustrated properties and products
- Portfolio highlighting strong understanding of typography and creation of effective layouts
- Illustration skills a plus
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
- Familiarity with Adobe After Effects a plus
- Knowledge of color correction, retouching, and file preparation for both digital and print output
- Ability to work conceptually and under pressure with internal and external stakeholders to meet deadlines
- Strong communication and organizational skills with attention to detail
- Self-motivated, able to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Understanding of basic UI and UX principles a plus but not required
- Must be based in the United States and able to work on Eastern Time
