About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Collaborate with people at all organizational levels to strengthen the publishing supply chain
- Support major operational initiatives across the distribution network
- Contribute to automation and material handling implementation at the Crawfordsville Operations Center
- Support future automation, material handling, and operational improvement initiatives at Westminster and across the network
- Evaluate existing processes and identify improvement opportunities
- Develop new approaches supporting operational growth and efficiency
- Build analyses in Excel and communicate findings clearly
- Conduct time studies and develop flow charts in warehouse settings
- Test system enhancements and train others
- Develop activity-based costing and labor models
- Support warehouse management system implementations
- Design new facilities
- Implement new automation and material handling solutions
- Take increasing ownership of distribution operations analyses and projects
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in industrial engineering, supply chain operations, or a related technical field
- 5–10 years of relevant experience in industrial engineering, supply chain, distribution, manufacturing, or a similarly complex operational environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas
- Excellent PC skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple projects, and adapt to changing conditions
- Ability to collaborate effectively across functions and organizational levels
- Experience leading cross-functional projects
- Experience working with external vendors
- Experience extracting, analyzing, and summarizing large data sets
- Experience implementing and supporting warehouse management systems, automation systems, or material handling equipment
- Some non-standard and weekend work expected during system implementations
- Ability to travel as needed, including visits to other facilities and implementation sites
