About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Implement a strategic plan for programmatic growth
- Create trainings and resources to support programs and promote engagement in the Best Buddies mission
- Select new programs and train school and corporate chapter leaders
- Facilitate and track the certification process to ensure chapter leaders meet mission standards
- Support staff and volunteers to keep chapters engaged in the mission
- Oversee chapter events and programs staff as needed
- Manage volunteer committees, trainings, chapters, and mission advancement
- Identify state needs and expand programs in schools, colleges, corporations, and community buddy-pair programs
- Identify schools and corporations to start Best Buddies chapters
- Develop a regional growth pipeline through outreach to schools, community groups, and corporations
- Evaluate chapter engagement data and use it for state goals and strategy
- Lead the Citizen’s Adult Friendship Program, including matching events, application reviews, internal background-check submissions, and optional quarterly events
- Serve as liaison for National Ambassadors Initiatives
- Set expectations for participation in state events and programmatic initiatives
- Support recruitment in school transition and employment programs where applicable
- Strategize social media calendars and create content
- Represent Best Buddies through public speaking, presentations, and community involvement
- Identify fundraising opportunities and partnerships
- Support local and regional fundraising events
- Oversee recruitment, screening, hiring, and training of program staff as needed
- Approve reports, conduct staff evaluations, and provide guidance and motivation
- Monitor staff action due dates and coordinate reviews, time-off requests, candidate screening, and employee recognition with the State Director
- Develop and manage programmatic state-plan initiatives with the State Director
- Maintain compliance with Best Buddies policies and procedures
- Maintain confidential information and participant PII
- Use Benevolence, Microsoft Outlook, social media, and Salesforce to communicate with participants and the community
- Maintain data integrity and tracking across systems
- Follow professional standards in the Best Buddies Staff Policy Handbook
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree
- 3–4 years of relevant experience in volunteer and committee management
- Experience managing, driving, and motivating volunteers for program development and special event support
- Strong project management skills, including planning, analysis, decision making, and problem solving
- Willingness to multitask
- Highly dependable; leads by example and adapts communication style to fit the situation
- Comfortable engaging with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including youth and adults
- Strong communication, influence, and negotiation skills
- Ability to create new approaches, design processes and procedures, and lead large-scale change
- Strong initiative, drive for results, and self-assessment skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database programs
- Willing and able to travel frequently, work evenings and weekends as necessary, and use a personal cell phone
- Access to an automobile with applicable insurance or other reliable transportation
