Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or another Engineering discipline
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred
  • Ability to qualify for professional engineering licensure within 8 years
  • 0–4 years of experience
  • Provide electrical design and engineering for power distribution, lighting, instrumentation and controls, grounding, telecommunications, and fire alarm systems
  • Apply current codes and standards to designs
  • Perform electrical load and voltage drop calculations
  • Prepare short circuit and overcurrent device coordination studies
  • Perform cost estimates of electrical designs
  • Prepare electrical specifications
  • Provide energy-efficient and sustainable design
  • Provide construction assistance, including review of contractor submittals, answering contractor questions, and observing construction
  • Ability to interface with owners, architects, engineers, vendors, code inspectors, and utility personnel
  • Ability to work within established budgets and schedules
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
