About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Be considered for underground opportunities including Truck Operator, Nipper or General Service Miner
- Operate large mining equipment, including Toyota Landcruiser 4WD manual vehicles, trucks, rock breakers/excavators and integrated tool carriers
- Install and maintain critical infrastructure supporting underground operations
- Work alongside drills and other heavy mining equipment
- Operate safely in dynamic underground environments, including at heights
- Support production and underground mining activities
- Complete rotating 12-hour shifts on a 7/7 lifestyle roster based at Olympic Dam
- Participate in training, support and development for a long-term mining career
- Engage with BHP during the recruitment process and complete required suitability checks
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum 2+ years’ work experience in any industry
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to confidently operate a manual vehicle prior to joining BHP
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, pushing and pulling
- Ability to work safely in an underground mining environment, including at heights
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Team player with a safety-first mindset
- Ability to adapt to shift work and time away from home
- Successful completion of applicable recruitment checks, which may include police/criminal background checks, medical checks, drug and alcohol testing, due diligence checks, right-to-work checks and reference checks
