About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as a trusted technical partner to national TB programs in Nigeria and Ethiopia
  • Engage government counterparts, implementing partners, and Global Fund principal recipients to assess program needs and facilitate targeted support
  • Conduct structured assessments of TB program performance, gaps, and priorities through country visits, stakeholder consultations, and data/report reviews
  • Develop and regularly update country engagement plans for Nigeria and Ethiopia
  • Facilitate dialogue between country stakeholders and foundation program teams
  • Assess readiness to introduce and scale Pluslife and complementary TB screening tools
  • Map TB screening and diagnostic infrastructure and identify deployment gaps and opportunities
  • Monitor early implementation and adoption of new tools and document lessons
  • Provide technical input to TB case-finding scale-up proposals and operational plans
  • Assess TB funding flows, expenditure patterns, and resource allocation
  • Identify opportunities to reduce duplication, improve value for money, and align domestic and external TB financing
  • Support development of TB funding gap analyses and investment cases
  • Coordinate with Global Fund teams, principal recipients, and Stop TB Partnership support mechanisms
  • Assess TB data systems, including DHIS2, case notification, treatment outcome reporting, laboratory information systems, and national health information platforms
  • Support data-use improvement plans, data review mechanisms, performance dashboards, and facility feedback loops
  • Facilitate integration of TB data into broader disease surveillance frameworks
  • Assess TB-HIV service integration and identify models suited to each country
  • Support national guidelines, SOPs, and operational tools for integrated TB-HIV delivery in primary health care
  • Produce country assessments, trip reports, stakeholder summaries, and technical briefs with actionable recommendations
  • Support indicator tracking, contribute to the TB/HIV learning agenda, and maintain engagement documentation

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Advanced degree (MSc, MPH, MD, or equivalent) in public health, epidemiology, health systems, or a related field
  • Minimum of 8–10 years of relevant experience in TB program implementation, health systems strengthening, or related areas in sub-Saharan Africa
  • Experience with Nigeria or Ethiopia is essential; direct experience with national TB programs and/or Ministries of Health in Nigeria and/or Ethiopia strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of TB case finding strategies, diagnostics, and screening approaches
  • Familiarity with molecular diagnostic platforms and TB technologies relevant to high-burden African settings
  • Understanding of Global Fund grant architecture, grant cycles, and program performance monitoring
  • Experience working with Global Fund principal recipients or sub-recipients
  • Experience with health information systems, TB surveillance, and DHIS2 or similar platforms
  • Ability to analyze program data and translate findings into recommendations
  • Experience with TB-HIV co-infection programming and integrated service delivery within primary health care systems
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic, matrixed environment and align with remote teams across multiple time zones
  • Unrestricted work authorization in the country where the position is based
  • Fluency in English required
  • Background check required as a condition of employment
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel extensively in-country and occasionally to Seattle or other ARO locations
