About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support a client in the real estate and housing sector on a short, time-boxed Data Governance and Data Catalogue engagement
  • Review and build upon the client's existing Microsoft Purview Unified Catalog
  • Quickly understand the existing setup and accelerate delivery from day one
  • Scan the client's data warehouse and source systems, including its CRM, to bring technical metadata and lineage into Purview
  • Set up and populate governance domains
  • Organise data assets, glossary terms and ownership within each domain
  • Build and maintain the business glossary
  • Work with Data Owners and Data Stewards to agree definitions and accountability
  • Assign appropriate owners and stewards across domains and assets
  • Apply classifications including Public, Internal, Private and PII
  • Improve the structure and quality of the existing catalogue
  • Support metadata, lineage and governance activities
  • Work closely with business and technical stakeholders to ensure catalogue content is accurate and usable
  • Accelerate the existing Purview implementation and leave the client with a structured and usable data catalogue

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Recent, hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview Unified Catalog
  • Strong experience building and curating data catalogues
  • Experience with data domains, assets, business glossaries, ownership and stewardship
  • Hands-on experience with metadata management
  • Experience with data lineage and source-system scanning
  • Experience applying data classifications such as Public, Internal, Private and PII
  • Experience working directly with Data Owners and Data Stewards
  • Ability to work with business stakeholders to agree definitions, ownership and governance
  • Strong understanding of Data Governance and Metadata Management
  • Ability to quickly understand an existing Purview environment and accelerate delivery
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills
  • Ability to work independently and deliver tangible outcomes within a short engagement
  • Proven, recent hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview Unified Catalog
  • Experience curating a data catalogue, not simply configuring scans
  • Experience with business glossaries, metadata, data domains and data assets
  • Experience with data ownership and stewardship
  • Experience with data classification and PII
  • Understanding of data lineage and technical metadata
  • Experience working with Data Owners, Data Stewards and business stakeholders
  • Strong Data Governance experience
  • Ability to work independently within an existing enterprise environment
  • Candidates must have recent Microsoft Purview Unified Catalog experience
  • Purview experience primarily focused on compliance, DLP or Information Protection is not suitable
  • Desirable: Experience presenting catalogue content outside Purview
  • Desirable: Experience with Microsoft Fabric
  • Desirable: Experience building catalogue experiences using Power BI or Fabric apps
  • Desirable: Ability to communicate technical catalogue information in clear business language
  • Desirable: Experience scanning CRM and data warehouse sources into Purview
