About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Oversee 5–20 technical staff on client projects throughout British Columbia
  • Manage and supervise project delivery teams throughout the project lifecycle
  • Provide construction management and contract administration leadership and support
  • Develop work plans, staff resourcing plans, budget estimates, and project schedules
  • Support responses to requests for qualifications, expressions of interest, and requests for proposals
  • Develop solutions to construction quality problems
  • Review project scopes, plans, contracts, and specifications
  • Plan and attend pre-construction meetings
  • Monitor and control project costs, expenses, budgets, and schedules
  • Act as a technical expert across multiple project teams
  • Collaborate with Engineers of Record and Project Managers on design changes
  • Ensure quality management and quality assurance activities comply with internal policies and procedures
  • Conduct quality audits
  • Support field staff with construction disputes and contractor claims
  • Participate in value engineering and value analysis reviews
  • Recruit, train, develop, and manage staff
  • Review staff work, progress, evaluations, timesheets, and expense reports
  • Establish best-practice work procedures and client communication protocols
  • Manage project correspondence, documentation, records, meeting minutes, weekly reports, progress estimates, and EMR reports
  • Maintain client relationships and seek new business opportunities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Diploma in Civil Technology OR related engineering degree, OR educated to grade 12 and completed construction related courses
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in a construction supervision environment, including at least 5 years of construction management experience
  • Extensive experience managing complex, multi-year highway construction projects and multi-tiered project delivery teams
  • Extensive experience developing and managing contracts, quality management systems, budgets, and deadlines
  • Extensive experience collaborating on responses to Requests for Qualifications and Requests for Proposals
  • Valid Driver’s License and personal vehicle for travel to job sites
  • Strong organizational and document control skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments
  • Willing and able to work outside in inclement weather and diverse terrain
  • Willing and able to travel throughout BC and work away from home for short periods
  • Previous staff management experience preferred
  • Registration as an AScT, P.Eng. and/or CPWI preferred
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil3D, and CAiCE is an asset
