About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as MassChallenge's recognized voice and subject-matter authority in the biotech, medtech, and pharma ecosystem
- Represent MassChallenge at industry conferences, panels, and thought-leadership forums
- Build and maintain a personal network of senior biotech/medtech leaders, VCs, and government innovation officials
- Provide technical guidance to founders and partners and support program evaluation and investment-readiness decisions
- Identify and cultivate international hubs, incubators, and research institutions
- Contribute articles, talks, and panel appearances on biotech commercialization
- Lead end-to-end delivery of Breakthrough Bio across strategic design, startup recruitment, acceleration, market access, and finale phases
- Develop curriculum, execute events, and provide tailored founder support
- Build and activate networks of founders, mentors, partners, and industry leaders
- Manage relationships with program partners, including government innovation agencies
- Develop strategic partnerships and source mentors, speakers, and industry collaborators
- Establish feedback loops and performance metrics to improve program delivery and outcomes
- Contribute to broader organizational initiatives and additional accelerator programs
- Manage the program delivery team
- Contribute to organizational knowledge and startup acceleration best practices
- Collaborate across the national program and network team
- Support broader MassChallenge program execution as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- Substantive, hands-on experience in biotech and/or medtech, including therapeutic or device development, FDA regulatory pathways, clinical trial design, or commercialization of a life sciences technology
- Familiarity with major industry conferences such as BIO International Convention or LSI USA is a plus
- Experience managing international cohorts or working with government agency partners is a plus
- Strong business skills, leadership, people management, strategic thinking, and sound judgment
- Willingness and ability to engage business, philanthropic, civic, and academic leaders in business networking settings
- Bachelor's degree
- Seven or more years of experience in project/program management
- Experience in accelerator operations, recruitment, and supporting small businesses
- Recognized voice in biotech, medtech, or pharma with credibility among founders, investors, and government innovation partners
- Deep personal network across healthcare and life sciences
- Experience representing an organization publicly, including on stages, panels, and in conversations with senior industry leaders
- Ability to evaluate startup technology and guide technical founders
- Ability to convene people across sectors, institutions, and countries
- Ability to oversee a small delivery team
- Ability to navigate international stakeholders and cross-cultural business norms, particularly Taiwan and Israel
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with government innovation agencies, dual-use innovation ecosystems, or international cohorts is a strong plus
