About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and produce content supporting corporate priorities, business milestones, scientific advancements, employee engagement, and corporate reputation objectives
  • Translate complex business, scientific, and organizational information into compelling, audience-appropriate communications
  • Create and edit emails, intranet content, newsletters, executive communications, presentations, event communications, social media content, and other corporate communications assets
  • Ensure consistency of messaging, voice, tone, and brand standards across communications channels
  • Lead BioCryst's corporate social media program, including strategy, editorial planning, content creation, publishing, community management, paid promotion, and analytics
  • Develop and execute social media campaigns supporting corporate communications objectives, thought leadership, and company milestones
  • Monitor social media trends, conversations, risks, and opportunities
  • Analyze performance metrics and industry benchmarks to optimize audience engagement and content effectiveness
  • Lead content development and publishing for internal communications channels
  • Manage Internal Communications intake requests, timelines, approvals, and project status
  • Support employee engagement initiatives through strategic communications planning and content creation
  • Support media relations activities related to company milestones, announcements, scientific developments, and strategic initiatives
  • Monitor media coverage and develop reports, coverage summaries, and leadership updates
  • Ensure alignment across external communications, internal messaging, and the corporate narrative
  • Manage communications projects from concept through execution with stakeholders across the organization
  • Coordinate with external agencies and vendors to develop communications materials and content assets
  • Manage vendor budgets, statements of work, invoices, and related administrative processes
  • Support MLR/PRC review processes
  • Provide communications support for company meetings, employee events, leadership engagements, and other corporate activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or related field required
  • Minimum five years’ experience in pharma/biotech or life sciences corporate communications (in-house or agency)
  • Familiarity with U.S. social media regulatory considerations
  • Demonstrated success creating content across multiple channels, including executive communications, employee communications, social media, digital content, presentations, newsletters, and corporate storytelling
  • Exceptional writing, editing, proofreading, and content development skills
  • Ability to simplify complex scientific and business topics
  • Experience managing corporate social media channels, editorial calendars, content creation, and native platform campaigns
  • Experience designing, implementing, and analyzing paid social media campaigns
  • Experience supporting internal communications and employee engagement initiatives
  • Strong understanding of corporate reputation management, brand positioning, messaging, and communications best practices
  • Experience supporting media relations, media monitoring, and coverage reporting preferred
  • Experience collaborating with senior leaders, cross-functional teams, agencies, and vendors
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently
  • Ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders across all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work primarily remotely with regular in-office collaboration several days each week at the Boston, MA or Durham, NC location
  • Up to 20% domestic travel
