About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Review project plans, specifications, and related documents to understand project scope and requirements
  • Conduct take-offs from project drawings and develop material and labor quantity estimates
  • Use estimating software and tools to prepare detailed cost estimates
  • Assist in preparing bid proposals and compiling relevant estimating information
  • Collaborate with senior estimators and project managers to review and analyze bids and proposals
  • Maintain and update cost databases, historical data, and estimating resources
  • Track and report on project bids, opportunities, and market trends
  • Participate in departmental and project meetings
  • Stay current with industry trends, construction technologies, and estimating best practices

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Student eligible for a 4 or 8 month co-op position
  • Availability to start in January 2027
  • Ability to review project plans, specifications, and related documents
  • Ability to conduct take-offs from project drawings
  • Ability to develop material and labor quantity estimates
  • Ability to use estimating software and tools
  • Ability to prepare detailed cost estimates covering labor, materials, subcontractor quotes, and other project costs
  • Ability to assist with bid proposals and organize estimating information
  • Ability to collaborate with senior estimators and project managers
  • Ability to maintain and update cost databases, historical data, and estimating resources
  • Ability to track and report on project bids, opportunities, and market trends
  • Knowledge of construction technologies, industry trends, and estimating best practices
