About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage the overall productivity, performance, and satisfaction of assigned carriers
  • Review key performance indicators and participate in strategies to improve results
  • Manage day-to-day carrier operations and resolve issues impacting service or utilization
  • Monitor truck availability and maximize fleet capacity and productivity
  • Identify and address current and future capacity gaps
  • Partner with carriers and internal teams to minimize downtime and keep equipment moving
  • Coordinate freight planning, advance load planning, outbound planning, and reload opportunities
  • Develop transportation plans aligned with customer requirements and operational standards
  • Collaborate with planning teams to maximize fleet productivity and service performance
  • Participate in carrier selection for dedicated business and scheduled departures
  • Monitor carrier performance, utilization, and service levels
  • Ensure compliance with tracing, truck posting, safety, operational requirements, company policies, procedures, and carrier agreements
  • Conduct carrier reviews and performance discussions
  • Build relationships with carrier dispatchers, owners, and key contacts
  • Resolve service, planning, operational, maintenance, equipment, pay, and settlement issues
  • Identify opportunities to improve carrier satisfaction, engagement, and retention
  • Participate in special projects and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support freight brokerage and other transportation-related activities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 1-3 years experience in transportation, logistics, fleet management, or a related role
  • Experience working with carriers, dispatch, or load planning is an asset
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and coach
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize personal and fleet management program activities with a sense of timeliness
  • Strong organizational skills and a clear sense of urgency about planning and executing work
  • Ability to maintain composure, effectiveness, and flexibility under pressure
  • Strong ability to adapt to varying situations
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work on-site
  • Availability for a 4 on, 4 off shift from 06:00–18:00 CT
