About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, build, and maintain features, services, and APIs across Java and Spring applications backed by Oracle and modern cloud- and container-based applications
Deliver defect fixes, patches, and enhancements in Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Tomcat environments
Resolve help desk escalations by reproducing issues, identifying root causes, and communicating fixes
Apply security updates and remediate vulnerabilities within contractual timelines
Validate system functionality after code, infrastructure, and client-managed environment changes
Contribute to integrations with related federal systems and data migration and cutover activities
Build accessible interfaces meeting Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA requirements
Write automated unit, integration, and regression tests supporting at least 90% code coverage
Keep code free of linting, accessibility, and medium or high security findings before releases
Deploy changes through automated CI/CD pipelines and support rollback
Build and maintain reports using JasperReports or Crystal Reports and support ad hoc data requests
Maintain inline documentation, dependencies, and technical notes
Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, and cross-training
Support applications for a federal platform used for regulatory planning and review

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
At least 5 years of professional full stack software development experience
Hands-on experience building and maintaining production applications with Java and the Spring Framework
Experience with relational databases (Oracle preferred), including writing and optimizing SQL
Experience working in Linux server environments (Red Hat Enterprise Linux preferred)
Experience with front-end development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
Experience writing automated tests and working with CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions
Git-based version control experience
Experience supporting live production systems, including troubleshooting and resolving user-reported issues
Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams
Clear written and verbal communication skills, with ability to explain technical issues to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable Public Trust determination
Legally authorized to work in the US
