About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead API, Web, and Mobile engineers across four business units
Set technical direction and align priorities across API, Web, and Mobile
Run sprint planning, backlog grooming, and standups
Keep tickets scoped, estimated, unblocked, and linked to organizational priorities
Maintain the team’s Jira board and Engineering Priorities board linkage
Own a core product or feature area from requirements and architecture through code review and deployment
Partner with the VP of Engineering on capacity planning, reprioritization, and ownership transfers
Maintain release notes, technical documentation, and system runbooks in Confluence
Coordinate with Product, Customer Success, and engineering teams on dependencies
Conduct code reviews, manage deployment pipeline changes, and participate in on-call and incident response
Perform root-cause analysis and postmortems
Mentor engineers, provide feedback, and support career growth
Represent the team in engineering leadership syncs and provide status updates to executives
Drive process and tooling improvements, including reporting automation, sprint dashboards, and documentation standards

Requirements

What you’ll need

Strong, hands-on production experience with Ruby and Ruby on Rails
Strong, hands-on production experience with Angular
Experience leading engineers across multiple teams or product areas, ideally spanning API, Web, and Mobile
Proven experience leading engineers in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment
Strong hands-on technical ability, including writing and reviewing production code
Power-user proficiency with Jira and Confluence
Track record of owning a feature area or product surface end-to-end
Excellent written and verbal communication
Experience managing ambiguity and reprioritizing work
Comfortable owning incident response and writing postmortems
Solid understanding of Node.js and modern web/API development
AWS or equivalent cloud experience
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and GitHub-based code review workflows
AI/LLM-integrated features or data pipelines experience is a plus
Must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States
