About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own architecture and major technical decisions for the regulated investment platform, covering onboarding, order routing, records, reporting, and partner interfaces.
- Build and lead the engineering team and set standards for reliability, security, performance, testing, and code quality.
- Implement the Securities Commission's technology risk requirements through change control, secure development, testing, acceptance, capacity, and resilience practices.
- Produce systems evidence for the readiness declaration required before the platform may operate.
- Lead the platform through independent technology validation required for registration and close identified issues.
- Own tested business continuity and disaster recovery.
- Own cloud, vendor, and outsourcing arrangements.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Deep software engineering background with experience building and scaling production systems.
- Strong knowledge of backend systems, APIs, databases, cloud infrastructure and distributed systems.
- Experience making architecture decisions across multiple products or engineering teams.
- Strong technical judgement and ability to challenge engineering decisions at implementation level.
- Capable of building world-class engineering teams.
- Still technically hands-on - able to review code, architecture, incidents and difficult engineering problems directly.
- Strong English communication is required.
- Candidates should be based in, or able to work from, the location where the role is advertised.
