About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Define scalable solutions to overcome the technical challenges of Train Distribution.
- Enhance, maintain, and monitor the current BlaBlaCar train ecosystem.
- Participate in the whole application lifecycle: initial discovery, design, development, test strategy, production deployment, monitoring, alerting, and support.
- Interact with people of different roles, backgrounds, and cultures, and share technical expertise with technical, product, and business experts.
- Lead complex projects involving multiple BlaBlaCar teams across different pillars and external actors.
- Cultivate continuous learning, test and experiment with new patterns, and contribute to raising the train team’s engineering standards.
- Actively leverage AI tools in daily workflows and explore AI-driven engineering practices to improve productivity and code quality.
- Collaborate with engineering teams, data, QA, product managers, and business developers to build robust and scalable features.
- Report to the Engineering Manager and work with three other backend engineers.
Requirements
What you’ll need- 3+ years of experience from companies with a strong engineering culture.
- Fluent in Java and knowledge of frameworks such as Spring Boot, JUnit and Mockito.
- Hands-on experience with Git, Docker, Kubernetes, and monitoring solutions.
- Knowledge of service-oriented architecture and ability to determine when to apply a given architectural pattern.
- Understanding of tradeoffs between fast iterations and delivery quality.
- Excellent communication skills, humility, and teamwork.
- Fluency in English.
- Strong knowledge of train distribution or a similar environment with the same technical challenges is nice to have.
