About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Coordinate construction activities on the project in conjunction with the Project Field Manager
  • Manage and coordinate on-site subcontractor activities for CPM schedule and subcontract compliance
  • Implement the Project Construction Execution Plan
  • Supervise and mentor superintendents
  • Monitor and report construction productivity, schedule performance, trends, and commodity installation status
  • Develop and implement subcontractor schedule recovery plans
  • Coordinate construction completion walkdowns and handover of start-up packages
  • Supervise completion of punch-list items and construction closeout
  • Assist the Project Field Manager with client interface and relations
  • Coordinate site-procured material reviews and equipment rentals
  • Conduct weekly subcontractor coordination and progress meetings
  • Monitor extra work authorizations, backcharges, payment requests, and change-management tracking
  • Manage Division 8 labor charges, construction equipment budget, overtime, and subcontract terms
  • Act as site Safety Representative when the regular Safety Supervisor is absent
  • Resolve safety and quality issues with safety and quality managers
  • Stand in for the Project Field Manager when absent
  • Coordinate engineering deliverables with field or home-office engineers
  • Manage Manufacturer’s Service Technicians and timesheet tracking
  • Prepare construction portions of client and monthly construction reports
  • Identify improvement opportunities and champion continuous improvement and change-management efforts

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 14+ years of construction supervisory experience required
  • At least 3 years of previous construction manager experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering, or related field preferred, or relevant field experience
  • OSHA Training
  • Union or union management experience strongly preferred
  • High Voltage Transmission and Substation experience strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of construction technology, EPC industry, constructability, project and department budget processes, project controls, risk assessment/management, construction project management systems, and time and expense reporting systems
  • Conceptual planning, conflict management, leadership, multitasking, presentation, problem-solving, project management, communication, and meeting skills
  • Ability to complete pre-employment background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search if selected
  • Ability to perform physically demanding construction-site work, including lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing, standing, kneeling, bending, walking long distances, repetitive movement, and working up to 12-hour shifts
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, extreme temperatures, inclement weather, hazardous equipment areas, and varying lighting and noise conditions
  • Must be able to mobilize to the project site for the project duration
