About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Drive the contracting process from initial drafting through negotiation and execution for a portfolio of business
- Own a client channel and supervise its book of work, including complexity assessment and case assignment
- Identify process and client experience improvement opportunities
- Coordinate with internal partners across functions involved in the contracting process
- Ensure comments flow through to contracts and requisite approvals are acquired
- Manage client expectations throughout negotiations
- Ensure appropriate contracting processes are followed to mitigate risk to BlackRock
- Identify potential issues for internal stakeholder review, discussion, negotiation, and resolution
- Capture, negotiate, and record non-standard contractual clauses
- Maintain the contractual documentation database
- Ensure completed contractual documentation is properly filed and circulated
- Support the sales team with contractual documentation queries
Requirements
What you’ll need- JD (Juris Doctor) degree is required
- Proven track record of drafting and negotiating sophisticated legal contracts
- Ability to perform and deliver high quality legal contracts in a fast-paced environment
- 3-6 years relevant investment management experience preferred
- Relevant legal qualification
- Proven skills in successfully managing competing internal and external demands within timeframe
- Knowledge of the asset management industry and applicable law and regulations
- Comfort working with multiple systems to supervise and handle the contract negotiation lifecycle
- Ability to independently handle tasks and workload with some guidance and oversight
- Ability to navigate sophisticated internal processes and functions and offer practical solutions
- Ability to balance client needs with BlackRock policies and operational procedures
- Regulatory and technical awareness to understand associated risks and provide compliant solutions
- Ability to be a great teammate
- Strong proficiency in standard software, such as Microsoft Office, and interest in new technologies
