About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Travel to job sites and use specialized company-provided equipment to identify, locate, and mark underground utilities and structures
  • Locate utilities unlocatable by traditional methods, including abandoned facilities, chemical transport, and other exotic utilities
  • Troubleshoot using industry knowledge, observation, problem-solving, deductive reasoning, and attention to detail
  • Deliver reliable and professional locating results
  • Communicate with job site contacts to ensure a smooth, safe, and complete locating process
  • Maintain clear and courteous communication with customers and co-workers in the field

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 2+ years of experience as a public or private utility locator
  • Proven accuracy and professionalism
  • Experience locating multiple utility types in varied environments
  • Experience with an engineering or SUE firm is a plus
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Proficiency with Windows-based computers and Microsoft Office programs
  • Willingness and ability to learn new procedures and technologies
  • Ability to manage workload and deliver top-tier service independently
  • Availability to travel to job sites daily
  • Ability to work overtime and after hours as dictated by business needs
  • Ability to undertake overnight travel when required
  • Must pass a fit-to-work physical
