About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Drive efficient acquisition of goods and services across the organization
- Oversee the sourcing lifecycle from understanding business needs through RFx events, contract negotiation and drafting, and source-to-pay management
- Conduct supplier selection activities, competitive bids, contract establishment, contract administration, and reporting
- Work with requestors to develop specifications, prepare bid documents, and evaluate and select suppliers
- Ensure supplier capacity, on-time delivery, compliance, and continuous improvement
- Collaborate with business areas and cross-functional teams to develop sourcing strategies and manage supplier contracts and relationships
- Generate and implement sourcing strategies through the RFx process
- Prepare and manage RFQs, RFPs, and other competitive bids
- Review proposals, analyze pricing, negotiate prices and contract terms, review scopes, and recommend selected bidders
- Develop and negotiate new supplier contracts and renegotiate existing contracts
- Maintain strategic sourcing relationships and develop supplier partnerships
- Generate total value estimates and expenditure forecasts
- Evaluate and streamline sourcing procedures and implement continuous-improvement solutions
- Drive strategic sourcing goals and action items
- Develop strategies to improve the organization's cost structure
- Optimize external spending through early sourcing involvement and stakeholder collaboration
- Negotiate contracts and manage vendor relationships, including IT services, IT infrastructure, and indirect spend
- Evaluate supplier competencies and competitive positioning with cross-functional stakeholders
- Analyze industry trends and emerging technologies to identify risks and opportunities
- Manage purchase order administration, including notices, change orders, new supplier onboarding, and contract closeout
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field preferred
- In lieu of degree, an additional 3 years of relevant experience required
- Minimum 1 year's experience in procurement, vendor management, and/or supply chain management, with direct involvement in strategic sourcing management required
- Previous experience in project management and process improvement preferred
- Previous experience with IT procurement preferred
- Previous experience identifying and implementing lean principles into workflows preferred
- Certified Professional in Supplier Diversity preferred
- Certified Professional in Supply Management preferred
- Skilled in conducting RFx events, including RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
- Ability to collaborate with and influence stakeholders at all levels
- Skilled in building and maintaining relationships with internal teams, suppliers, and vendors
- Proficient in researching, analyzing data, and presenting findings
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and tools
- Strong understanding of procurement policies, procedures, and supplier management
- Ability to interpret and negotiate contract terms, including redlining
- Experience with sourcing and procurement tools, including contract lifecycle management systems
- Strong negotiation and conflict-resolution skills
- Ability to lead projects independently and in cross-functional teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to analyze data and use insights for informed decision-making
- Applicants must reside in Kansas or Missouri or be willing to relocate as a condition of employment
