About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Gather and document business requirements on behalf of internal and external customers
- Provide research and analysis for project deliverables and production break/fix issues
- Conduct user acceptance testing and post-production validation
- Act as liaison between business customers, external customers, project teams, and IT
- Write and review business requirements, flow specifications, and change requests
- Write test scripts and track issues through resolution
- Research and resolve issues involving electronic transactions, customer service applications, and claims adjudication systems
- Provide first- or second-level support for internal and external customers
- Improve procedures and processes, resolve system deficiencies, and implement enhancements
- Develop business requirements and flow specifications for moderate to complex projects
- Support external customers onboarding Healthcare EDI processing and achieving HIPAA Transaction and Code Set compliance
- Provide subject matter expertise on electronic transactions and corporate systems
- Facilitate or create operational procedures and processes
- Lead small- to medium-sized projects and act as UAT Coordinator
- Interpret design specifications against business needs
- Resolve differences between customers and team members
- Develop and execute data queries for ad hoc requests
- Understand EDI formats, syntax, and file transfer protocols
- Support multiple business segments
- Mentor junior analysts at applicable levels
- Lead large or complex projects and forecast required work effort at advanced levels
- Ensure service-level agreements are met
- Proactively improve processes and procedures supporting customer satisfaction and corporate goals
- Participate in an on-call rotation
- Perform other assigned duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- 2 years of experience in healthcare or insurance with emphasis on Business Analysis including Healthcare EDI
- 2 years of experience communicating with diverse groups inside and outside the business
- 2 years of experience triaging complex issues from members and/or providers, or experience as an ICS Triage Analyst
- High-School Diploma or GED
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong time management skills
- Basic skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, Outlook, Visio, and PowerPoint
- Basic skills with query tools
- Strong understanding of file handling and data translation
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks under strict time constraints
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and demonstrate creative problem solving
- Ability to anticipate downstream impacts
- Ability to support corporate leadership priorities
- Ability to make sound management decisions in the absence of management
- Ability to deal effectively with conflict
- Ability to present concepts effectively to varying staff levels for Levels 2–4
- Preferred: 5 years of healthcare or insurance experience emphasizing Business Analysis and Healthcare EDI
- Preferred: 5 years of experience communicating with diverse groups
- Preferred: 1 year of testing experience
- Preferred: 1 year of project management experience
- Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field
- Preferred: Business Analyst Certification
- Preferred: Advanced knowledge of business requirements, user acceptance testing, and supporting toolsets
- Preferred: Familiarity with HIPAA compliance validation tools such as EDISM, Specbuilder, or ClarEDI
- Preferred: Familiarity with claims and customer service processes
- Preferred: Experience with web portal business user support and change management
- Preferred: Formal business analyst training
