About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Deliver technical data support and innovative solutions for Actuarial financial data systems and data marts
- Lead and coordinate development work delivering accurate financial data solutions
- Develop complex decision-support data solutions, extracts, reports, data marts, and analyses across the full development lifecycle
- Partner with actuarial reserving teams across the claims lifecycle from service occurrence through reserve development
- Develop and maintain datasets for IBNR reserve calculations, completion factors, lag analyses, and actuarial modeling
- Support monthly and quarterly reserve analyses, financial forecasts, and experience studies
- Perform data quality assessments and reconcile claim, membership, and financial data across multiple systems
- Analyze medical and pharmacy claims data for utilization trends, cost drivers, emerging risks, and operational improvement opportunities
- Perform monthly data refreshes, validations, automations, and quality assurance checks for executive financial reporting
- Maintain and optimize Actuarial Systems Data Marts
- Lead application areas including data definitions, file structures, code architecture, business rules, and requirements
- Analyze business challenges, develop and implement recommendations, and communicate actions, impacts, and results
- Ensure financial granular-detail data is auditable, snapshotted, and stored for quarterly and year-end audits
- Provide analytical support for departmental, divisional, and corporate projects
- Coordinate work and provide direction, assistance, and training to peers and junior staff
- Provide configuration expertise and communicate with customers and business partners through verbal, written, electronic, and presentation formats
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree or advanced degree (where required), or 10+ years of experience in a related field in lieu of degree
- 8+ years of experience in related fields
- At this time, Blue Cross NC will not sponsor employment authorization for this position
- 5+ years of SQL Development/Analysis experience (highly preferred)
- 5+ years of healthcare analytics, actuarial analytics, payer analytics, or strong medical claims data functional/life cycle knowledge (highly preferred)
- Facets experience is a plus
- Experience supporting actuarial trend analysis
- Experience with Snowflake and AWS cloud environments
