About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage and lead a team of subject matter experts developing electrical hardware equipment for Lunar Landers
- Serve as a lead technical contributor and provide technical support to the product team
- Develop, lead, and own upgraded analog and digital avionics designs controlling fluids, engine systems, and onboard lunar hardware
- Own hardware and firmware/microprocessor architecture across the product life cycle
- Support rugged electronic hardware assemblies from concept and requirements definition through design, analysis, prototyping, schematic capture, layout, design review, testing, verification, and production release
- Lead architecture trade studies, analyses, performance characterization, specification, device selection, and product roadmap direction
- Lead design risk analyses, FMECA, DFx, and root-cause analysis of test discrepancies
- Participate in technology development, mission assurance, safety initiatives, and avionics process improvements
- Communicate development status, risks, and challenges to management
- Create strategic plans, mentor team members, and provide leadership and development opportunities
- Manage hiring, performance reviews, compensation and promotion processes, professional development, and one-on-one coaching
- Organize and equip the team and ensure staff training
- Supply people, processes, and tools to meet project and program demand signals
- Negotiate Statements of Work with product managers
- Promote Blue Origin leadership principles and Lunar Permanence team culture
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Physics, or related disciplines
- Experience leading multidisciplinary development projects, people, or functional groups with responsibility for coaching others
- 5+ years of experience in at least one specialty area applicable to space flight
- Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills
- Understanding of hardware engineering principles, concepts, and methods
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment and provide imaginative, detailed technical solutions to complex problems
- U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted U.S. refugee or asylee
- Required to complete Blue’s Standard Background Check
- Passion for Blue Origin’s mission and vision
- Preferred: Master of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Physics, or related disciplines
- Preferred: Prior responsibility for career management of employees
